Who We Are
OUR MISSION
Nottingham Writers’ Studio is an established organisation which creates opportunities and space for local writers to come together; meet like-minded individuals, develop new skills, and become the best writers they can be. We collaborate with our members, and endeavour to shape our organisation to meet their needs. We value highly the contribution the written word makes to society and encourage writers to express themselves freely.
We would hope to provide a ‘home’ for any writer that is seeking connection, validation and a way of making progress with their writing in a nurturing community, and strive to support them to be successful in their craft. And we welcome fresh ideas and perspectives that help our grass roots organisation to grow.
Whether you’re just starting out or you’ve been writing for decades, there’s a place for you here at NWS.
THE HEART OF A COMMUNITY
We are currently in partnership with the team at Nottingham Central Library, who provide us with a range of rooms to suit our members’ needs.
The central location makes it accessible, easy to find, and the landscaping of The Green Heart creates an inspiring space to sit and ponder - food for the writer’s soul.
MAKING CONNECTIONS
There are currently over 100 members benefiting from being part of our vibrant community, and we do our best to support their individual and ever-changing needs.
NWS have always been committed to addressing important social issues through our publications, producing anthologies such as Black Lives and Earth 2.0, which amplified diverse voices and perspectives.
In the past we have partnered with local food bank Himmah and Nottz Garden Project to establish our own ‘Free Little Library’, promoting literacy and access to books for everyone.
We also funded the development of a publishing directory for the East Midlands, helping local writers connect with vital information and resources.
