WHO WE ARE
NWS is a not-for-profit writing organisation dedicated to nurturing writers and building on the city’s literary roots. The team behind the scenes are Alan Walker (Chair and Operations Director), Adam O’Connell (Finance Director and Vice Chair), Nick Sturgeon (Director), Debra Urbacz (Community Support & Event Coordinator) and Sofia Jones (Communications Lead). They all work together to foster a friendly and supportive community that ensures writers of all backgrounds and abilities are given the opportunity to thrive.

We are all about connecting, supporting and developing writers, through co-writing sessions, collaborating and helping our writing community grow. Sharing our expertise and signposting to services, we are developing workshops to support the ever-changing needs of our members.
