What We Do
CONNECTING AND CREATING
Welcome to NWS! We’re a vibrant community for writers of all levels and we are continually creating opportunities to network and find ways to work together. Through our members’ socials, co-writing sessions and collab groups, we aim to bring together like-minded people who help foster a supportive environment for local writers to thrive.
We also encourage members to submit to an annual publication, to help boost their confidence and provide opportunities to work with an editor and read their work aloud in a safe space.

MEMBER SOCIALS
We have two FREE member socials scheduled each month, and these are a great opportunity to meet up and have a chat with other writers in your community.
Daytime Social - second Friday of the month - 11:00am-1:00pm
Evening Social - third Wednesday of the month - 7:00pm-8:30pm

CO-WRITING SESSIONS
We have a rolling schedule of FREE co-writing sessions on Saturday mornings and afternoons to help us commit to our writing goals. There are a range planned for each month, to help you get the best out of those two hours.

COLLAB GROUPS
There are a range of collaborative writing groups set up that meet online or in-person monthly, to give feedback on each others work. We carefully match members with a group to help them develop as both editors and writers.
We aim to support all genres of writing, are open to starting up new groups and currently have collab groups set up for writers of poetry and prose, and short fiction to novels, but screenwriters are welcome too!
WORKSHOPS
As well as our popular monthly poetry workshop Diamonds and Rust with Hannah Norris, we work closely with facilitators, to provide a variety of online and in-person workshops to suit all needs and budgets. These are discounted for members, and you will find them all listed on Eventbrite.
