Hugh Dichmont is a multi-award-winning script writer across theatre, film and audio. He has had works performed across the UK, including Nottingham Playhouse, Theatre 503 and The Vaults. He is artistic director of Nottingham-based theatre company INFLUENCING MACHINE.
His 2018 one-man show, ‘The War On Terry’, was listed by FringeReview as one of their Top Ten Plays Not To Miss, whilst his “funny and surreal” podcast, ‘The Future History of the British Isles’, was rated ★★★★★ by iTunes subscribers.
Hugh lectures regularly in scriptwriting, with recent sessions for Masters students at Nottingham Trent University and The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, London.
“Hugh was incredibly detailed and thorough in his feedback for my script. He clearly submerged himself in my work – he understood the characters and their intentions, so was able to clearly reflect back ideas I had tangled up in my head, asking all the right questions so we could unpick them together. Not only was his technical advice brilliant, but he fully believed in me during the times I was questioning myself and my confidence was waning. I would certainly work with Hugh again for all the knowledge and wisdom brimming from his brain, yes, but also because he is calm, considered and hilarious.”
