Writing Kink: The Next Level

9 May @ 19:00 - 21:00

£18 – £20

Workshop Description:

Writing Kink: The Next Level: This workshop (9th May) follows on from the Beginners Guide to Writing Kink (although all hopeful erotica writers are welcome).

We will be looking closely at what makes a story erotic, the difference between creating sensuality and writing sex scenes, the importance of tension, trust and anticipation – and how write such concepts convincingly.

We will also work on, not just how to ‘show’ rather than ‘tell’ our stories, but how to let your readers ‘feel’ your stories.

Throughout the two sessions, each participant will build up a plot for an erotic short story which they can – should they wish – write in their own time, with a mind to submitting it for publication. (Help will be given with this on request after the workshops.)

Learning Goals:

To encourage writing confidence, to get to grips with the skill set needed for erotica writing – and fiction writing in general – to help understand the audience an erotica writer is aiming for, to create a premise for a short story that can then be written and submitted for publication – and to have fun with words.

Jenny Kane:

Creative writing tutor and author, Jenny Kane, has written forty novels/novellas, including the romcoms Frost Falls at The Potting Shed, Midsummer Dreams at Mill Grange and A Cornish Escape, for Head of Zeus and Headline.

When writing as Jennifer Ash, she creates historical fiction; including The Folville Chronicles crime novels and audio scripts for ITV’s 1980’s television show, Robin of Sherwood.

As Kay Jaybee, Jenny is one of the most read erotica authors in the UK. Her The Perfect Submissive series has won multiple awards, and led to her becoming the ETO’s Erotica Author of the year in 2015.
