Writing for Young Adults

Following on from An introduction to writing for children and Developing middle grade fiction, the Nottingham Writers’ Studio and Paula Rawsthorne bring you Writing for Young Adults.
In this 2-hour workshop, you’ll explore the young adult (YA) fiction market, how to make your writing YA focused including creating narratives, situations, and characters that young adults can identify with, examples of successful YA writing and tips to develop your own YA story idea.
So, if you’re looking for a new challenge, a little stuck with your ideas or you simply wish to build upon your existing knowledge of writing for this audience this workshop will provide you with the perfect opportunity to learn more about writing for Young Adults.
Paula is a multi-award-winning writer of YA fiction. Her latest book, THE NEW BOY was published by Scholastic in March 2019. Her body transplant thriller, SHELL recently won The Derbyshire Schools’ Book Award and the North East Teen Book Award.
She has also had short stories for adults published and broadcast. Paula has been a writer in residence for First Story and is invited to do author talks and workshops in schools around the UK. Paula is passionate about getting teenagers reading and writing!
