Stand Out from the Crowd with Ian Douglas
5 July @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
About the event
Whether a fairy kingdom or an alien planet, every fictional world needs its inhabitants. It could be elves, blue-skinned rebels, dwarves, wookies or even those good old-fashioned bipeds, the humans. Imagine a novel without sentient life forms, nobody to experience, perceive or comment on your made-up environment. Nobody to act as the reader’s avatar. That would be a very dull novel.
Join author Ian C. Douglas in creating people for your universe. And that’s ‘people’ in any size, shape or colour. We start with tools for shaping races, cultures, societies and then focus in on the individual, practicing an industry standard method for coming up with compelling characters.
The evening is an ideal opportunity for writers in the early stages of world-building or thinking about taking the plunge. Participants are welcome to bring their own material to work on.
