About this Event
The Writing Life is a series of three sessions focused on your personal development and goals as a writer. Each session will be a mix of discussion, short practical and reflective writing tasks. This will also be an opportunity to get to know other writers and share information about becoming involved in the East Midlands writing community.
Session 1: Taking Stock
Wednesday 15 January 2020 at 2.00 pm-4.30 pm
How do you view yourself as a writer? How would you define your experience so far and what does ‘success’ mean for you? What do you need to enable you to fully enjoy your writing process? Throughout this workshop, we will reassess our life priorities and set our individual writing goals for 2020.
Session 2: Making it Happen
Wednesday 12 February 2020 at 2.00 pm-4.30 pm
Where, when, who and what do you write? Could this work better for you? Is ‘Why do you write?’ an easy question to answer? In this session we will reassess the way we structure our lives and environment around writing and consider what changes we can make as individuals to give us the time, space and motivation for writing.
Session 3: Keeping Faith
Wednesday 11 March 2020 at 2.00 pm-4.30 pm
The most important thing a writer can do is to write. So why, when we have set goals and decided to prioritise our writing, do so many of us find ‘just writing’ difficult? We will consider all the obstacles preventing us from writing, what might be at the heart of these and how rethinking our assumptions and approach might positively change our process.
