How to Get Your Poetry Published
How do you go from a few scribbled lines to a published poetry collection? What’s the best way of getting your poems ‘out there’ and connecting with readers? The world of poetry can seem both baffling and intimidating, and getting your poetry published an insurmountable challenge. In this workshop, poetry publisher and writer, Teika Bellamy, will demystify the process of poetry publishing, as well as offering tips and encouragement to get you into and across the ever-changing landscape of ‘poetry world’.
Dr Teika Bellamy is the founder and managing editor of Mother’s Milk Books, a Nottingham-based press, which publishes books that celebrate femininity and empathy. In 2015, Teika was the recipient of the Women in Publishing’s New Venture Award for pioneering work on behalf of under-represented groups in society; Mother’s Milk Books was also longlisted in the 2017 Saboteur Awards category ‘Most Innovative Publisher’. Teika is a popular speaker who is passionate about the role of independent presses and women authors within the publishing world. A writer herself, her poetry, fiction and non-fiction has appeared in various publications, including Mslexia, Brittle Star, Strix, Literary Mama, JUNO, LabLit, The Poetry Shed, Picaroon Poetry and LossLit.
