12 December @ 19:00 - 21:00
During this workshop, we’ll be taking a close look at your novel’s subplots. We’ll be discussing their purpose and meaning, and how they might be tightened to enhance your novel as a whole. We’ll also look at how to weave together different story strands, and discuss your secondary characters, thinking about how to make your background cast more than cardboard cut-outs. We’ll also consider what to do if a subplot begins to take over your story.
Using practical creative writing exercises and published examples, participants will gain a clearer understanding of subplots. You’ll leave the workshop armed with new writing ideas, and with a fresh perspective on this aspect of your novel.
