Creative Writing & Ritual
30 March @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
About the course
How do you make sure that your writing rituals help to increase productivity? Join Thom Seddon on his workshop, Creative Writing & Ritual as he explores ‘rituals’ in around writing and creativity, with participants being invited to experience first-hand how focused exercises can be used to initiate productivity, inspire new pieces of work, and banish procrastination.
Participants will explore writing rituals through a variety of innovative and exciting creative exercises. We will give structure to the seemingly structureless, create personally powerful methods to instigate new writing, and look at ways that ritual can get us into the right headspace to focus on writing in abundance, getting around the dreaded ‘writer’s block’ through the medium of warm-up prompts and ‘ritualistic’ writing exercises.
The aim of the workshop is to be fun and exploratory, while also focusing on producing several pieces of writing and creative works.
Thom Seddon is writer and performer from Nottingham. He has published two collections to date, The Smart Mouthed Victim and Death is Awful for the Living, each featuring poetic content that is both social commentary and personal confession. His body of creative work weaves together a fresh contemporary style with magical realism; black comedy with a romantic twist. He deems himself a representative of the weird and the queer. He has an MA in Creative Writing, and an MSc in Creative Writing Therapy, and has performed across the UK as a songwriter, drag queen and spoken word artist.
