Common Writing Mistakes and How to Avoid them

12 May @ 18:30 - 20:30

About this Event

Agents, publishers and readers are now more brutal than ever. With limited attention spans and competition from Netflix and YouTube, you have to grab a reader quickly. And there are certain mistakes which will guarantee you lose them.

This workshop shares the most common things that put off readers, from telling instead of showing to messing up your point of view. It will be focused on novels but much of it also applies to short stories, memoir and narrative non-fiction.

Throughout this 2-hour workshop, you will…

• Understand the vital importance of the first few pages.

• Learn how to avoid the mistakes that will get your work rejected.
