Beginning close to the Autumn Equinox when darkness and light are present equally, this 8-week sequence will explore how therapeutic writing can help us to achieve equilibrium.
Finances and Freelancing workshop – Saturday 30th September – 10am-1pm – Gail Mitchell – £5 members/£10 non-members
This workshop will demystify the financial processes of the freelancer, suitable for all self-employed creatives and small business owners. Gail is a writer and qualified accountant.

10am-1pm: Food writing in fiction workshop
Food can be a truly transformative tool in literature. It has the ability to code relationships, act as a gateway to new worlds and add authenticity to a piece of writing.
2-5pm: Non-fiction workshop
Starting with narrative non-fiction, we’ll look at how food can be instrumental in non-fiction genres including travel and memoir.
Feature Writing Course – Starting Saturday 4th November – 10am-12noon – Shreya Sen Handley – £65 (NWS member)/£85 (non-members)
Feature writing for the media develops your writing skills, gives you a platform for creative expression, builds your author profile, and is quite frankly, lots of fun. Learn how to pitch an article and have it accepted, pick a topic that will grab attention and produce great content, and negotiate edits and pay.
Shreya is a writer, memoirist and journalist, she writes for National Geographic and The Times of India.
Risk Taking in Publishing with Penned in the Margins – Saturday 18th November – 1pm-6pm – £13 (NWS)/£16 (non-members) for half day or £20 (NWS)/£27 (non-members) for the full day

1-3pm Risk taking in publishing: What that means, and discussing what’s considered innovative in today’s world of contemporary publishing.
4-6pm Producing: Live literature and cross-arts performance. How do you adapt writing for different kinds of live events, what practical considerations to do you take into account, and how can you collaborate across art forms.
