Writing Groups: the writers' hub

We currently run Writing Groups in Fiction, Poetry, Scriptwriting, and YAC fiction (writing for children and young adults). The groups are open to all Studio members, published and unpublished, at any stage in their writing career. They provide a great opportunity to share and develop your work and receive critical feedback. There are usually 6–10 members in each group, with a wide range of experience and interests.

There is also a Reading Group, a group for journalists and professional writers (The Invoicables), and occasional meetings for Publishers, Comedy Writers, Self-Published Writers, and Writers in Education.

Writer Development 

This year we launched our Mentoring Scheme for members: each mentee receives six sessions with a mentor specifically chosen to suit their needs. Sessions can be based around writing and editing, or related issues such as getting work published or produced.

We also launched the NWS Bursaries Scheme, aimed at emerging writers in any genre (creative writing or journalism and non-fiction), which provides six writers with one year’s free membership of NWS, a mentoring scheme, a free place on a Nottingham Writers’ Day, and a chance to take part in an NWS reading.
